CURRENT THREE OH MEMBERS
On Feb. 7, 18 members of North Dallas High School's Class of 74 held their first reunion meeting at the Embassy Suites on Northwest Highway. The goal was to begin preparations for the 30-year reunion. We had already tried to have two previous meetings, but we never seemed to get everybody there. Our third attempt was at the Embassy Suites. And it was successful. Besides checking out the food, we were checking out the place. It fit our needs. Our first order of business was to select the food. We weren't sure how the reunion was going to turn out, but at least we were going to eat right. The food choices were good. We settled on Red Snapper and Southwest Chicken. We formed several committees that day. We talked about our goal to make the 30th reunion the very best. We talked, we laughed, we had a good time. We even took several pictures with sunglasses on to show our attitude. We also set our meeting dates for the coming months. And slowly, but surely, our goal is starting to take shape. Gilbert Sandoval, who had never attended a previous reunion, came up with the team name, "Three-Oh".Our team has both old and new members.Gary and Mary Jane (Herb) Pina, leaders of the previous reunions, were back along with Vicki (Palma) Valderas, Benny Nash, Bettie (Weaver) Reed, Danny Chasney, Martha (Navarro) Vasquez, and Dolores (Estrada) Billings. They were joined by newcommers Susan (Bouldin) Chavez, Dubb Murrow, Terry Byrd, Richard Arechiga, Linda Rodriguez, Adam Rogalla, Angie (Robles) Rios, Sharon (Thompson) Murray and Sharon (Hatcher) Steward. Gilbert, also a newcomer, has led the team effort, with hundreds (maybe thousands) of e-mails and telephone calls. This reunion was going to be special. At one of the previous meetings, we had already decided on Sept. 25 as the date. We set the reception for 7 p.m., followed by the sit-down dinner at 8 p.m., and the DJ at 9 p.m. Gil organized The Pups, to help raise funds for the North Dallas boosters. Danny and Terry checked out how we could give back to the school. We decided to have door prizes at the reunion to help raise funds for the school. Gil also organized the special "Three-Oh" presentation that you don't want to miss. And of course, we have a program planned to recognize our departed classmates, and also the teachers in attendance at the reunion. Benny, who missed the food selection at the Embassy Suites, came up with the idea of a golf tournament. The event at Twin Wells Golf Course in Irving on Saturday, Sept. 11. Meanwhile, the Embassy Suites came up a room rate of .00 per night for our reunion weekend. That left the selection of the picnic area, which will be held at Lake Lewisville, information to be given at the reunion. I can tell you that you can bring your boat if you wish. That's our story.... For additional information, contact Gary Pina at 469 272-9040, or Gil Sandoval at 972-888-9437.
